ABOUT US
Why Work with Huronia Mind Health and Trauma Clinic
You don’t need to filter yourself here. This is a safe space.
Being trapped in cycles of self-doubt and feeling disconnected from yourself and others can be exhausting. When you’re caught up in your head instead of living your life, weighed down by an inner critic that tells you you’re not enough, it can feel overwhelming. But you don’t have to face these struggles alone.
We understand because we’ve been there too. Everyone faces challenges—ourselves included. We believe in getting support when needed and know how hard it can be to show up as your authentic self.
With decades of experience working with individuals, couples, and families, we offer a compassionate space where you’re truly seen and accepted. Our approach focuses on what happened to you—not what’s wrong with you. Your symptoms aren’t who you are—they guide us to the healing you need.
Together, we’ll help you move from surviving to living, developing deeper connections with yourself and others while finding more peace in your daily life.
Let’s begin your journey to peace, joy and ease.

Trauma Therapy FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions About Trauma Therapy
I’m worried that talking about what happened to me will make me feel worse. How do I know I will be able to cope with trauma therapy?
Treatment for trauma can sometimes make symptoms feel worse before they improve. Our approach includes ongoing assessments of how you’re coping, focusing on building skills to tolerate distress if needed. We’ll adjust the approach if you feel overwhelmed, and you’re always in control of the pace.
Will I need to talk about what happened to me in detail?
No, trauma therapy does not require you to share the details of your trauma. You can share only what you feel comfortable with. Your therapist will guide you through the process, regardless of how much you choose to disclose.
What if my trauma involves someone I am still in contact with?
It’s very common for this to happen and it will not prevent you from healing. If something is ongoing, we’ll focus first on ensuring your safety, building coping strategies, and discussing how you’d like to move forward.
What happens if I don’t connect well with my trauma therapist?
The connection with your therapist is vital. If you feel you’d like to speak with someone else, please let us know. We’d be happy to recommend another therapist who might be a better fit.
Can I still do trauma therapy if I don’t recall all of the details of my trauma?
Absolutely. Memory can be tricky, and it’s normal for it to be patchy or disorganized. The brain has incredible healing potential, and we trust in its ability to heal in its own time and way.
How long does trauma therapy take before I’m healed?
Healing is highly individual. Many people start to feel better simply by finding the right person to work with. Progress happens gradually, with both up and down days, which is completely normal and a healthy part of the process.
